Johnpaul Allen, 32, was caught by Nottinghamshire Police after speeding at 115mph whilst driving a Range Rover Sport with a child in the passenger seat on 25 May. He initially passed an unmarked police vehicle unaware, prompting a high-speed pursuit during which officers had to travel at 120mph to keep pace. This incident matters because Allen's reckless driving endangered multiple road users, pedestrians, and most significantly, the child travelling with him.

During the chase, dashcam footage captured Allen weaving through traffic and nearly colliding with an oncoming vehicle as he veered onto the wrong side of the road. He later drove at 70mph through a 30mph built-up area in Warsop and admitted to police via bodycam footage that he had consumed "one or two" alcoholic drinks before driving. Allen pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at Nottingham Crown Court and was sentenced to six months in jail and a 16-month driving ban.
