Sony’s reboot of “Resident Evil” opened at number one at the U.K. and Ireland box office, earning £4.2 million ($5.6 million). “Practical Magic 2” fell to second place, while Aardman’s “Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom” debuted third with $2.2 million, highlighting strong demand for both franchise and family titles.
“Practical Magic 2” reached $7.5 million overall, while Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” climbed to $116.1 million after 10 weeks. “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” took $772,975 in its eighth week, bringing its total to $133.9 million and making it the third-highest-grossing film ever in the territory, behind “Skyfall”; the coming week includes new releases such as “Heart of the Beast”, “Sense and Sensibility” and “Hope”.
