ABBYY has launched FineParser, a self-hosted Docker tool that uses its FineReader OCR engine to convert document images into structured text for AI systems. It is designed to preserve layouts, tables and reading order, providing a reliable preprocessing stage before content is sent to generative AI models, while also supporting archiving, content management and production workflows.

FineParser runs on CPUs rather than requiring GPUs and supports handwriting and more than 200 languages. Developers can access it through a REST API, receiving plain text, JSON or ABBYY’s compact DocLang format; a free tier covers 1,000 pages monthly for a year, while fully offline use requires an Enterprise plan. The software is proprietary, although ABBYY provides open-source tools and example resources.
