Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen admitted his side’s first-half performance was poor during their 2-1 comeback victory over Salford City in the EFL Trophy. Salford dominated much of the opening period and deservedly led, but Wednesday improved after the break to overturn the deficit and begin their group campaign with a win.
Ben Woodburn put Salford ahead in the 34th minute, while goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer kept Wednesday in contention with important saves. Davis Keillor-Dunn equalised shortly after half-time before Jamal Lowe converted a late penalty, securing Wednesday’s fifth consecutive unbeaten match despite their heavily rotated team and limited possession.

- Salford led through Ben Woodburn’s first-half goal.
- Keillor-Dunn and Lowe completed the comeback.
