An argument over lounge chairs at a beach in Vouliagmeni, Greece, on 20 September turned deadly, resulting in the death of an 82-year-old man. The confrontation began when an 82-year-old man attempted to reserve a cluster of six sunbeds for his group, but a 76-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman had already purchased tickets for two of the chairs. The dispute escalated from verbal altercation to physical violence when the 82-year-old allegedly struck the young woman, prompting retaliation from the younger man and bystanders. During the confrontation, the 82-year-old suffered cardiac arrest and collapsed; despite CPR and defibrillator use by a nurse and other bystanders, he was pronounced dead at Asklepieion Hospital shortly after 11 a.m. The 76-year-old has been charged with causing fatal bodily harm, whilst the 21-year-old woman was charged with verbal abuse and aiding and abetting fatal bodily harm before being released from custody. Both are scheduled to testify before a judge on 23 September.
