Tyra Banks has opposed Netflix’s attempt to dismiss her defamation lawsuit over the docuseries *Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model*. Her lawyers argue that selective editing distorted her responses and created misleading impressions about her knowledge of a contestant’s sexual assault and her role in a conversation about infidelity.

Banks’ filing cites footage from a 2004 interview with Shandi Sullivan, claiming the programme removed a nod and parts of Banks’ answer, while also reversing the order of a discussion about cheating. She is suing Netflix and others for defamation, false light, breach of contract and false endorsement, alleging reputational damage, lost business and emotional distress; Netflix denies wrongdoing and says the documentary fairly represented her perspective. A Los Angeles court is due to hear Netflix’s dismissal request on 30 October.
