Niko Rubio will release her debut album, *late night swim*, on 30 October, six years after her first release. The Mexican-Salvadoran, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter says the record reflects her artistic growth, heartbreak and a stronger understanding of her identity, while broadening her alternative sound with global influences.

The album draws on Los Angeles, London and Jamaican sounds, and features longtime collaborator Lester Mendez alongside several other producers and creatives. It follows singles including “kitty” and viral hit “tokyo”, with “dream” due on 25 September; Rubio hopes the album’s vulnerable, late-night pool-party setting will offer listeners escapism, nostalgia and emotional release.
