Sheffield’s new Local Plan has been delayed again, keeping proposed development on parts of the Green Belt from progressing immediately. The plan will determine where homes, employment sites and infrastructure can be built until 2039, so the delay prolongs uncertainty for residents, developers and the council.

Government inspectors requested land for an additional 3,539 homes and more employment space after examining the draft plan. The council subsequently proposed 14 Green Belt sites, alongside existing allocations intended to provide about 38,000 homes and 265 hectares of employment land; further examination and modifications are still required before adoption.
