Father keeps vigil as mother accused of killing son, injuring siblings
A mother in New South Wales is accused of killing her five-year-old son and seriously injuring her two younger children, aged one and three, in an alleged stabbing attack. The surviving children remain critically ill but stable in hospital, while their father has kept a bedside vigil, reportedly devastated and struggling to understand what happened.
Police allege the attack occurred on Sunday afternoon in Valley Heights, near Springwood, after the mother stopped her car near a waterfall track and stabbed the children while they were strapped into their seats, before injuring herself. The woman, who is 42 and cannot be named for legal reasons, faces one murder charge and two charges of grievous bodily harm with intent to murder; she was refused bail and is due back in court on 20 November.
