Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson have created a new Apple TV sitcom called Brothers, based on a long-standing rumour about their possible half-brother relationship. The show follows Harrelson's character imposing himself on McConaughey's life whilst investigating their supposed paternity, with McConaughey's character attempting to run for political office. This marks their first major collaboration since True Detective's critically acclaimed first season, though the new project takes a markedly different comedic approach.

The eight-episode series follows a familiar sitcom blueprint of one character creating chaos in another's orderly life, drawing comparisons to My Name is Earl and Two and a Half Men. Whilst the humour works reasonably well and the chemistry between the two leads anchors the show, the series relies on conventional sitcom tropes and fails to break new ground creatively. Holland Taylor, playing McConaughey's hard-drinking mother "Ma Mac," emerges as the standout supporting performance, though most other cast members remain underdeveloped, leaving viewers primarily invested in the leads' interactions and the slow exploration of the half-brother mystery.
