Chvrches Return With Politically-Tinged Single ‘Roses’
Chvrches have returned with “Roses”, their first new music since taking a hiatus. The politically tinged single and accompanying video signal what the band describes as a new sonic direction, while reflecting on Britain’s political climate.
The trio—Lauren Mayberry, Martin Doherty and Iain Cook—last released an album, Screen Violence, in 2021. Mayberry pursued a solo career from 2023, but the band later resumed work; “Roses” interpolates “Ring a Ring o’ Roses”, and Chvrches will play charity shows in Glasgow on 26 October and London on 29 October.
