Sheffield Council has registered the abandoned NHS-owned Fulwood House as a dangerous structure after identifying weaknesses in its security perimeter and reports of young people entering the building. The council will issue a formal notice requiring stronger fencing and boarding of accessible ground-floor openings, while the NHS says it will take further action following an investigation.

The 1960s tower block on Old Fulwood Road has been empty since 2018 and is approved for future housing development. Despite 24-hour security, dog patrols, warning signs and fencing, people have reportedly reached upper floors and climbed through broken windows; residents and councillors have warned that the deteriorating building poses a serious risk. The wider site also includes a fire-damaged mock Tudor property, and police have increased patrols in response to concerns.
