Nurse Sandie Peggie told an employment tribunal that she felt unsupported by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) during a dispute involving a transgender doctor’s use of female changing facilities at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. She is suing the RCN, alleging discrimination over her gender-critical beliefs, after being suspended following a confrontation with the doctor.

Peggie said staff had not been consulted about the arrangement and that some colleagues were uncomfortable, although no other staff members are giving evidence. She also said a union representative appeared to support moving her to another department, which she interpreted as taking the doctor’s side. The tribunal follows an earlier case in which she won a partial harassment claim against NHS Fife and is appealing other findings.
