Former Leeds United footballer Ian Poveda has appeared at Leeds Crown Court charged with four counts of perverting the course of justice and two counts of fraud relating to driving offences. The 26-year-old, who currently plays for Atletico Nacional in Colombia, pleaded not guilty to all charges and was granted bail, with his trial scheduled for December 2028.

Poveda is accused of failing to disclose a driving disqualification when obtaining insurance, using false number plates and conspiring to obtain insurance under someone else's name for a vehicle he intended to drive whilst disqualified. The charges relate to incidents between July 2020 and September 2023, plus fraud charges from 2023 and 2025. He appeared in court alongside co-defendants Adekunle Adeyemi, 36, and Anthony Howe, 63, both from London, who face their own related charges; all three were granted bail.
