Prime Video's limited series "The Challenger" has expanded its cast with six recurring actors playing key figures in the true story of the 1986 NASA Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. The ensemble includes William Fichtner as Nobel physicist Richard Feynman, Kevin Carroll as physicist Professor Arthur Walker, Eric Lange as General Donald Kutyna, Adelaide Clemens as astronaut Rhea Seddon, Louisa Jacobson as Sally Ride's partner Tam O'Shaughnessy, and Hunter Burke as astronaut Steve Hawley. Created by Maggie Cohn and marking Kristen Stewart's television starring debut, the series chronicles the events leading up to the tragedy, the subsequent investigation, and Ride's groundbreaking achievement as the first American woman in space.

The project, inspired by Meredith E. Bagby's 2023 book "The New Guys," explores the 1986 explosion that claimed the lives of all seven crew members aboard the shuttle shortly after launch. Directed by James Hawes and produced by Big Swing Productions, Amblin Television and Nevermind Pictures, the series brings together a substantial cast that also includes previously announced actors such as Will Arnett, Danny Huston, Sofia Black D'Elia and Paul Sparks in supporting roles centred on the disaster and its investigation.
