A24’s relationship dramedy The Invite, directed by Olivia Wilde, will stream exclusively on HBO Max from 23 October, followed by its HBO television premiere on 24 October at 8pm ET. The release marks the film’s next stage after a successful theatrical run, highlighting its strong performance for an independent production.

The film stars Seth Rogen and Wilde as a married couple whose dinner with their mysterious upstairs neighbours, played by Edward Norton and Penélope Cruz, takes an unexpected turn. It is an English-language remake of the Spanish film The People Upstairs, adapted by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones, and has earned more than $55 million worldwide after premiering to positive reviews at Sundance.
