A restaurant owner in Massachusetts faces multiple assault charges after pursuing two teenagers who left without paying their $92.60 bill. The incident raises questions about proportionate responses to dine-and-dash situations and the use of firearms in commercial disputes.

The 18-year-old and 17-year-old had their credit cards declined at Nadim's Mediterranean Grill in Springfield. Nadim Kashoush, 61, the owner, followed them to a nearby convenience store where he allegedly grabbed the girl's phone, displayed his registered firearm and struck both teenagers. Kashoush was charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault and battery, and one count of armed robbery using a firearm; the teenagers face fraud charges. He was released on bail with a court date scheduled for 22 October, whilst the female teenager reported fearing for her life during the encounter.
