Gail MacKinnon will step down as the Motion Picture Association’s senior executive vice-president for global policy and government affairs at the end of October. Her departure marks the end of a decade at the organisation, where she led domestic and international policy operations and represented the interests of its member companies.

MPA chairman and chief executive Charles Rivkin announced the decision in an email to staff, praising MacKinnon’s leadership, mentoring and advocacy in Washington and overseas. She will remain available to Rivkin on transition matters until the end of the year; no successor was identified in the announcement.
