Mike Berry, a British rock singer and television actor born on 24 September 1942, is commemorated on what would have been his 84th birthday. Known as "the British Buddy Holly" for his authentic interpretation of the American rock-and-roll icon's style, Berry achieved chart success whilst later becoming recognised for his acting role as Mr. Spooner in the BBC sitcom Are You Being Served?. Berry passed away on 11 April 2025, aged 82, having left a notable mark on both music and television.

Berry's first chart appearance came in 1961 with "Tribute to Buddy Holly", which reached number 24 on the UK singles chart despite a BBC ban for its "morbid" content—just two years after Holly's fatal plane crash. He achieved greater commercial success with "Don't You Think It's Time" (1963), which reached number six on the UK charts, and returned to the top 10 in 1980 with "The Sunshine of Your Smile".
