The remains of Jason Landry, a 21-year-old Texas college student who disappeared while driving home for Christmas in December 2020, have been identified nearly six years later. A local resident found human remains in Caldwell County on 8 September, and DNA testing confirmed their identity, bringing an end to the search but leaving questions about the circumstances of his death.

Landry’s Nissan Altima was found crashed near Luling shortly after midnight, with his phone and wallet inside and some clothing laid out nearby. Investigators said he had been using Waze before unexpectedly changing direction, and search dogs later traced his scent towards a pond, which was drained without finding him. Authorities, working with volunteers, conducted repeated ground and aerial searches and reviewed new leads before the remains were discovered.
