This renewed interest comes amid a challenging period for Scott's science-fiction career, as his recent film "The Dog Stars" has severely underperformed at the box office and with critics alike.

"Alien: Covenant" originally earned approximately $240 million worldwide against a $100 million budget and holds a 65% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. By contrast, Scott's latest project "The Dog Stars" has grossed only around $40 million worldwide and shed over 95% of its theatrical footprint within a month. The Alien franchise currently faces an uncertain future, with "Alien: Romulus" director Fede Álvarez declining to return, whilst Scott has announced plans to assume creative control over the series' future direction.
