Warzone will add an optional setting allowing players to hide other users’ paid character skins, addressing long-running complaints that celebrity and novelty costumes undermine the game’s military atmosphere. The change only affects the individual player’s view: other users can still equip and use their chosen cosmetics.

The feature will apply to teammates and opponents in both lobbies and matches, replacing their outfits with generic Modern Warfare 4 characters. It will be disabled by default and is expected to launch alongside Modern Warfare 4, which arrives on PS5 on 24 October 2026. The move follows previous developer promises to keep cosmetics aligned with Call of Duty’s identity, despite increasingly unconventional items appearing late in annual content cycles.
