The newly restored 1980 workplace comedy 9 to 5, starring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, will return to US cinemas for a special one-week run from 9 to 15 October. Disney will donate net proceeds from each ticket sold to The Dollywood Foundation, supporting Parton’s Imagination Library, making the screening both a revival of a popular film and a fundraising effort for children’s literacy.

The re-release was announced on 25 September, known as “Give Like Dolly Day”, an annual event inspired by Parton’s charitable work. Directed by Colin Higgins, the film follows three female office workers who unite against their exploitative boss; it received an Academy Award nomination for Parton’s title song, which she wrote and performed, and tickets are now available.
