Raspberry Pi posts record first-half results despite rising memory costs

The Register · 2 hours ago

Raspberry Pi reported a record first half after building a large memory stockpile before prices rose and supplies tightened. Revenue reached $256.9 million, up 90%, while pre-tax profit more than tripled to $19.6 million, showing how advance planning helped it maintain availability while smaller rivals struggled.

The company shipped 4.2 million boards, up 17%, and its backlog doubled to 2.6 million units. Gross profit per board rose to $12.20, but cheaper inventory is running out: memory costs increased from $3.60 to $13.30 per GB, although existing stock and confirmed orders should cover 2026 production. Pi Zero supply was constrained, leaving about one million units on back order, while demand for Pi 4, Pi 5 and higher-capacity models remained strong.

  • Raspberry Pi posted record revenue and profit.
  • Early memory stockpiling protected production and margins.
  • Rising memory costs will pressure future profitability.
