Vida Sheffield, a domestic abuse charity supporting women and girls, is closing after more than 30 years because it could not secure sustainable long-term funding. The closure has prompted sadness among staff, survivors and supporters, alongside pride in the charity’s work and concern about the loss of specialist services.

The Sheffield-based organisation receives about 200 referrals a year and provides trauma-focused counselling, therapy and peer support, often alongside NHS and other partners. It is expected to close at the end of August 2026, while focusing on existing clients and completing a safe wind-down.
