Two major New York City outdoor festivals – the Global Citizen Festival and the All Things Go music festival – have been cancelled this weekend due to forecasts of extreme weather from an unusual September Nor'easter affecting the East Coast. Organisers prioritised safety, with Global Citizen confirming this is the first cancellation in 14 years after exhausting contingency options. The decision came after consultation with the City of New York and NYC Parks, citing dangerous conditions that would make it unsafe to bring tens of thousands of attendees, artists, crew and equipment together.

The Global Citizen Festival, scheduled for Saturday, 26 September on Central Park's Great Lawn and hosted by Hugh Jackman, was set to feature performances from Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, John Legend and others. The festival had already secured $208.8 million in financial commitments over six weeks to support educational opportunities for over 2 million children and assist 7.5 million people including smallholder farmers. The All Things Go Festival at Forest Hills Stadium was similarly cancelled, with organisers expressing regret to fans and artists including Brandi Carlile, Carly Rae Jepsen and Cara Delevingne.
