Leaks suggest Halo Studios had been developing remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3, alongside the next mainline game, reportedly known as Halo 7. The projects have allegedly been shelved following major Xbox restructuring and layoffs, leaving Halo Studios with around 20 employees and putting Activision in charge of determining the franchise’s future.

The leaked claims also say planned large-scale modes for Halo 7 were cancelled, while a skeleton crew is attempting to release projects nearing completion, including a new novel and Halo: Parasite’s Wake. The Halo Championship Series has reportedly been shelved, although Halo Fest is still planned; Activision is also said to be considering a full reboot that would move away from the series’ existing lore.
