Freddy vs. Jason, the 2003 crossover between the A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th franchises, will begin streaming on HBO Max on 1 October 2026. The film matters because it brings two major horror villains together, combining Freddy Krueger’s dream manipulation with Jason Voorhees’s physical brutality in a long-awaited confrontation.

In the film, Freddy uses Jason to revive public fear after people stop fearing him, but the plan collapses when Jason refuses to surrender his victims. HBO Max will also add the original Friday the 13th, the first five Nightmare on Elm Street films and the 2010 remake, allowing viewers to build a franchise marathon before watching the crossover.
