Ronan Bennett, the creator behind successful series including Top Boy and MobLand, is developing a new drama titled Army of Shadows, inspired by Joseph Kessel's 1943 novel and Jean-Pierre Melville's 1969 film. The reimagined series shifts the setting from World War II to a dystopian future Britain under authoritarian rule, with filming already underway in Paris and London. This project demonstrates Bennett's continued momentum across multiple major streaming platforms.

The cast includes returning collaborators Kit Harrington and Paddy Considine, alongside Oscar-winning actresses Susan Sarandon and Olivia Colman in undisclosed roles, with America Ferreira and Alex Hassell also featured. The series will air on Channel 4 in the UK and be distributed by Canal+ across Europe, Asia, and Africa, though no American broadcaster has yet been secured for the project.
