Sheffield City Council has announced plans to extend the operating hours of a bus and tram gate in Hillsborough to 12 hours a day. The change is intended to give public transport greater priority and improve bus reliability, but it may restrict when other vehicles can use the route.

The proposal forms part of wider planned traffic changes in Hillsborough, Middlewood and Southey, including a new bus lane and alterations to Holme Lane. The extended gate would operate six days a week, and residents have until 4 November to submit their views during the consultation.
