Bill Paxton identified The Vagrant, a 1992 horror comedy, as the film he most regretted making, describing it as an “unmitigated disaster”. He said the production lost its direction when the studio pushed it towards horror, creating an uneven mixture of comedy and frightening elements.

Paxton starred as an executive tormented by a troublesome neighbour, alongside Marshall Bell, in a film produced by Mel Brooks. The Vagrant opened in only eight US cinemas, was withdrawn after a week and earned less than $6,000, despite its reportedly strong cast.
