CD Projekt Red has revealed that designing the Chimera tank boss fight for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty took roughly two years. The encounter required repeated experimentation and refinement, highlighting the lengthy development process behind one of the expansion’s major set pieces.

Game director Gabe Amatangelo and creative director Igor Sarzyński discussed the fight on CD Projekt Red’s official AnsweRED podcast. They said the Chimera was among the studio’s most expensive art assets, while its mechanics, presentation and overall pacing were repeatedly revised before the team considered the battle ready.
