Apple TV is developing a film adaptation of Brandon Sanderson’s fantasy novel *Mistborn*, marking a stronger move into a genre where rival streamers have established major franchises. Sanderson, who also contributed to *The Wheel of Time* novels, has described the project as combining elements of *The Lord of the Rings* and *Dune*.

Sanderson has confirmed that he completed the script’s first draft, an important step before casting and production can begin. The film has no announced release date, while Apple TV’s current prominent titles include *Ted Lasso*, *Slow Horses*, *Brothers* and films such as *Mayday*, *Troy* and *I, Robot*.
