Fox News · 4 hours ago

Actor Billy Gardell says bariatric surgery in 2021 “probably saved” his life after obesity-related health problems, including type 2 diabetes, cholesterol issues and heart concerns. The former “Mike & Molly” star said worsening mobility, including a knee injury that prevented exercise, convinced him to take drastic action.

Gardell said he no longer needs medication and that his diabetes has gone, although he must carefully limit his portions and remains conscious of previous eating habits. He said losing weight has enabled him to hike with his wife and buy ordinary clothes, while his wife and son motivated him to improve his health; he has reportedly reduced his weight from 379 pounds at his heaviest to around 210–215 pounds.

  • Gardell credits surgery with transforming his health.
  • His diabetes has reportedly gone into remission.
  • He now maintains roughly 210–215 pounds.
