Glen Basner Says FilmNation Will Ramp Up Slate in 2027, Is Ready to ‘Raise His Fist’ for ‘I Play Rocky’ and Celebrate ‘Thoughtful’ and ‘Entertaining’ ‘Bunker’
FilmNation Entertainment CEO Glen Basner says the company will become more ambitious from 2027, increasing production while preserving its quality standards. Speaking after receiving the Game Changer Award at the Zurich Summit, he said improved understanding of the market had encouraged greater investment despite continuing industry challenges.
FilmNation plans to make four films and a television series in 2026, with four films already in pre-production for 2027 and hopes of adding three more. Basner highlighted Florian Zeller’s “Bunker” as an entertaining, thoughtful film aimed partly at older audiences, while “I Play Rocky” impressed him with its nostalgic and inspirational story about Sylvester Stallone’s determination to make “Rocky”; he also reflected on his collaboration with “Conclave” director Edward Berger.
