Mojang has announced that Minecraft will receive the Sift, its first new dimension since the game’s 2011 release. The ethereal, spirit-world-like dimension will arrive in both Java and Bedrock editions in 2027, potentially changing how players explore and survive in the long-running sandbox game.

The Sift will first feature in Minecraft Dungeons 2, launching on 29 September. Mojang also revealed ice caves, a Frozen Zombie mob, craftable ice balls and mineable ice crystals, alongside Sound Effects packs for the Marketplace. Other announcements included a Minecraft-themed attraction at Chessington World of Adventures, a creator-platform tease and the game’s planned Nintendo Switch 2 release on 27 October.
