Police in South Africa have discovered a tenth woman's body in Johannesburg within recent months, found on Saturday morning in the Tembisa neighbourhood. The police commissioner stated that officers cannot rule out the possibility of a serial killer, citing similar patterns across the deaths that suggest a shared method of killing. The discovery has sparked a national outcry regarding the scale of violence against women in South Africa, a country with one of the world's highest rates of gender-based violence.

The victim was identified by a friend who had been with her at a bar the previous evening. Most of the ten bodies have been discovered in similar circumstances since July, primarily in the Kempton Park area, with many victims being young women who showed signs of extreme violence. South Africa recorded 5,427 murders between April and June alone this year, whilst the Human Rights Commission reported that 569 women were killed and 1,052 survived attempted murder during the same period. Three men have appeared in court accused of involvement in one of the nine related murders, with police continuing their investigation.
