Steve Winwood plays the Hammond organ on Jimi Hendrix’s 1968 15-minute jam ‘Voodoo Chile’. The organ provides important musical depth beneath Hendrix’s prominent guitar, helping create the layered sound that distinguishes the track from the shorter, more widely known ‘Voodoo Child’.

The song emerged from an improvised studio session after Hendrix invited Winwood to help generate ideas. Engineer Eddie Kramer recalled that the two musicians complemented each other exceptionally well, describing their interaction as a conversation between “two musical giants”; ‘Voodoo Chile’ later helped inspire ‘Voodoo Child’.
