Minecraft is introducing its first new dimension in over 15 years, called The Sift, which will launch in 2027. This major addition ends a significant content drought for the game, which hasn't added a new dimension since The End was introduced with Minecraft 1.0 in 2011. The announcement came during Minecraft Live, marking a significant milestone for the long-running game that has sold over 425 million copies.

The Sift will debut first in Minecraft Dungeons 2, releasing on September 29, before arriving in the Java and Bedrock editions in 2027. The new dimension will feature areas such as the Meadows and the Carapace, along with new mobs that can serve as either companions or threats, with new gameplay rules to learn. Additionally, Mojang Studios confirmed that Minecraft will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27, continuing the franchise's expansion across platforms.
