A man in his forties, referred to as Mr X for legal reasons, allegedly received UK asylum and citizenship in 2015 despite having been a personal bodyguard to Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and previously detained in Egypt for overseeing a gun-smuggling operation. He now faces extradition to Germany on charges of orchestrating a terror plot against Israeli diplomats, Jewish communities and pro-Israel demonstrations scheduled for October 2025, coinciding with the second anniversary of the October 7 attacks. He was arrested in central London in November by National Crime Agency officers following intelligence reports shared by Mossad and German security forces.

The German indictment, published by newspaper Bild, alleges that Mr X transported five pistols, ammunition and other items from Berlin to a storage facility in Vienna during July, and pre-recorded a video positioning himself as executing retribution on behalf of Hamas's military wing. Authorities across multiple countries coordinated to apprehend seven suspects and seize weapons including an AK-47 rifle. Mr X, who remains in custody in Britain, faces both a separate UK criminal trial and charges of procuring arms for Hamas, with conviction likely to result in imprisonment before extradition to Germany.
