More than 300,000 people reportedly play Minecraft for the first time on an average day, according to Xbox CEO Asha Sharma. The figure highlights the game’s continued ability to attract new players more than 17 years after launch, while ongoing updates aim to keep existing players engaged.

Minecraft has sold over 425 million copies and is adding new content, including Dungeons II, new creator tools and a Nintendo Switch 2 version. The Switch 2 edition is due on 27 October, although upgrading from the original Switch version does not appear to be free.
