Armed Fantasia, a planned spiritual successor to the classic JRPG Wild Arms, has seemingly been cancelled four years after its successful Kickstarter campaign. Publisher 505 Games’ parent company, Digital Bros, reportedly discontinued the project after reviewing its progress, market prospects and the further investment required, leaving backers without the game they funded.

The joint Kickstarter with Shadow Hearts successor Penny Blood raised around ¥379.3 million (approximately US$2.6 million) from more than 17,900 backers, well above its ¥100 million target. Armed Fantasia had been led by former Wild Arms developers, including creator Akifumi Kaneko, and was originally expected to launch in March 2025; neither Digital Bros nor the developers have yet provided a detailed public explanation or confirmed what will happen to backer rewards.
