Anna Kendrick said she is “over the moon” to direct Netflix’s film adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Speaking at a Zurich Film Festival masterclass, she discussed the project alongside her career, including her Oscar-nominated role in Up in the Air, Pitch Perfect and her directing debut, Woman of the Hour.

The film will be scripted by Liz Tigelaar, with Francesca Sloane revising the latest draft, while Reid will serve as an executive producer. The novel follows reclusive Hollywood star Evelyn Hugo as she tells journalist Monique Grant the secrets behind her fame and seven marriages; casting has not yet been announced.
