Heavy rain and storms have triggered landslides and flooding in Nepal and northern India, forcing families to flee as homes collapsed or were swept away. The destruction comes weeks after deadly floods in Nepal and has prompted warnings of further flash floods across both countries.

Officials report 56 deaths and 46 injuries in India, with more than 1,000 homes damaged; Nepal has recorded 14 deaths and 11 people missing in the latest flooding. Rainfall in Uttar Pradesh reached 66.5 mm from 25 to 27 September, against a usual 7.6 mm, while Nepal issued flood-risk warnings for 49 districts. Rivers were above danger levels at monitoring stations in India, and flooding damaged infrastructure in Nepal, disrupting electricity and telecommunications; separately, ten workers were missing after an avalanche buried a climbing base camp.
