Quentin Tarantino says he has never watched Michael Mann’s 1992 film *The Last of the Mohicans*, despite admiring several of the director’s other films. His account suggests the omission reflects his lack of interest in the story and his view that Mann’s films work best when set in the 20th century.

Tarantino linked that view to Mann’s earlier period film *The Keep*, which he called a “fiasco”. Though friends, critics and reviews praised *The Last of the Mohicans*, Tarantino said he was unconvinced and did not watch it; the film stars Daniel Day-Lewis and received an Oscar nomination for sound.
