The update is free for owners of the base game, and the review finds that its changes help the landmark role-playing game feel more modern, even though some combat frustrations remain.

Geralt now turns, sprints and stops more responsively, while smoother movement and Roach’s improved handling make exploration and horse races less awkward. Combat changes include more reliable sword hits, revised enemy behaviour and a reworked skill tree with perks that reward specific actions; however, Geralt can still target the wrong foe in crowded fights. The review says the improvements are most noticeable over longer play sessions.
