Jennifer Lawrence has been cast as the lead in director Zach Cregger's upcoming science fiction thriller "The Flood" at New Line Cinema. This represents a reunion between Cregger and Warner Bros. following the critical and commercial success of his previous film "Weapons," which grossed $270 million worldwide and topped the domestic box office for four consecutive weeks.

The film is scheduled for release on 11 August 2028, with Cregger directing, writing and producing the project based on his original concept. Amblin Entertainment, alongside Roy Lee and Miri Yoon's Vertigo Entertainment, are producing the film, though plot details remain confidential. Lawrence, an Academy Award winner for "Silver Linings Playbook," brings significant star power to the ambitious production whilst continuing to develop projects through her production company Excellent Cadaver.
