Foo Fighters will open for AC/DC at MetLife Stadium on 2 October, after a nor’easter forced the band to cancel its original 25 September show. The rescheduled date gives the Foos another chance to share a stage with their hard rock heroes, turning what had been billed as a “one-night only” appearance into a repeat opportunity.

Tickets for the cancelled concert remain valid, and the show comes less than a month after Foo Fighters filled in as AC/DC’s opener in St Louis on 8 September. They replaced The Pretty Reckless, whose singer Taylor Momsen was in Seattle for a Soundgarden performance. Dave Grohl has described playing with AC/DC as a dream dating back to seeing the band’s 1980 concert film as an 11-year-old; the storm also disrupted several other festivals and concerts across the US.
