Sonos has released the Ace Ultra headphones at the same $449 price point as the original Sonos Ace, which launched with significant limitations in system integration. The original Ace had a glitchy TV audio swap feature that only worked with the Arc soundbar and a single pair of headphones, and could not connect to the wider Sonos system for music streaming. The Ace Ultra rectify these shortcomings by finally enabling full integration with the Sonos ecosystem, making them the capable headphones the original model should have been from launch.

The Ace Ultra retain the comfortable design and user-replaceable battery of their predecessor, weighing marginally more at 0.71 pounds compared to 0.69 pounds. They feature the same physical buttons and Content Key volume slider rather than capacitive controls, with removable ear cups (available separately for $39) and a replaceable battery kit ($25). The new headphone linking feature allows audio to be moved between the headphones and any speaker or speaker group in the system via Wi-Fi, though the functionality has limitations: audio sometimes requires multiple button presses to transfer, returns to the closest speaker rather than the previously playing speaker group, and the headphones cannot be grouped with speakers. This headphone linking feature is currently in early access.
