Halide Mark III’s latest update adds support for the variable aperture on the iPhone 18 Pro’s main camera, giving users more precise control than other third-party camera apps. The change matters to photographers who want to adjust how much light reaches the sensor and shape the look of their images.

Apple’s Camera app offers four aperture settings, while Blackmagic Camera and Moment Pro Camera II provide ten in one-third-stop increments. Halide lets users choose any setting from f/1.48 to f/4.0, and its developers are considering adding presets based on feedback. The update also adds two photo looks: Dawn, which warms mid-tones and highlights, and Quicksilver, which combines muted colour with high contrast.
